For years we at Automation Industries Corporation have wondered why a company would spend millions of dollars on a finish sander yet, not choose to equip the unit with a gauge to verify the sanders output. Even the best of sanders goes out of specification. Without proper control systems there is no way to know what is happening on an ongoing real time basis.

As we stated in our joint venture link, our latest venture is with IMEAS Inc. After looking at European Technology they came to us with a request for an accurate, non-contact, non-destructive thickness gauge. That's what we gave them!

AIC offers several solutions for precision thickness measurements at the out-feed of a sander. The 1000EP Laser Inspection System can be configured to measure any number of fixed points across the panel. With guaranteed accuracy, real time data collection and, historical data logging the system can provide years of worry free service.

However, we at AIC think there is more to offer. We have incorporated our expertise with open-ended frames and, our expertise in precision drives to develop the ACCU-SCAN Cross Machine Profiler. By driving a Pair of Laser heads simultaneously across the panel at a specified rate we are able to provide accurate data about the entire width of the panel edge to edge. The ACCU-SCAN System uses a Digital Stepper Motor to drive the heads cross machine at ten inches per second. Pair this with our Laser heads update rate of 880 times per second and, it is possible to take measurements every 0.011". What this system can do is supply unprecedented information about the condition of the panel as it leaves the sander. Problems with wedging, snipe, concavity, convexity and belt ware are noted on a real-time basis. Because most sanders produce defects in the machine direction that can pass between fixed points and go undetected (they can go under a contact wheel and still be undetected) the ACCU-SCAN System is the perfect solution.

There is one other significant advantage to the ACCU-SCAN system. The single zone system cost less than the base fixed head system yet delivers more real-time data!

Both the 1000EP and ACCU-SCAN Systems is fully network interfaced.

Each 1000EP or ACCU-SCAN System comes standard with:
