Using a veneer ribbon as an example, thick, thin and rough are detected in the raw data as are machine direction, taper, cross machine wedging, concavity and convexity. The high read rate of the laser heads provides the ability todetect the machine direction position of an out of tolerance event ot a high degree of accuracy.
